A focus challenge

One Elsewhere is a quiet focus ritual presented as a small journey through space. The session continues while the phone remains untouched and ends when the user returns.

Instead of adding more productivity controls, the product creates a reason to put the device down and makes uninterrupted time visible through distance, flight progress, and achievements.

Core experience

  1. 01

    Start the flight

Begin a focus session with one action and a short countdown.

  2. 02

    Leave the phone

The journey continues only while the user avoids interacting with the device.

  3. 03

    Return and reflect

See focused time, virtual distance, statistics, achievements, and unlocked ships.

Design focus

The central interaction is deliberate non-interaction. The interface sets an intention, communicates that the session is active, and then gets out of the way.

The space-flight metaphor turns elapsed time into a gentle sense of progress without recreating the pressure of a productivity dashboard.

Current outcome

The released iPhone app explores a focused product principle: the most useful screen can be the one that persuades the user not to touch it.
